As a senior member of our management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the Finance department and providing innovative and effective financial leadership to senior management to ensure the long-term health of our client’s finances.

The company is an owner managed industrial construction company which has been operating in resource and related sectors across the interior and north of BC and into the Prairie provinces for over 30 years.

The company is earning revenues in excess of $50M annually and employs approximately 200 employees.

The CFO will be responsible for administering financial management and reporting systems and ensuring the policies and procedures of the company meet accounting and reporting requirements under ASPE.

The successful candidate and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a work environment that is supportive to the organization and must have the following skill set: Full cycle accounting capabilities Management Accounting including project accounting for construction materials and services.

Financial Management, Planning and General Business strategic long and short-term financial planning, leadership and communications skills, Reporting to the CEO, and owners, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial administration systems of our client’s business, which include the following duties: to prepare the monthly financial information, the quarterly financial statements and the draft annual financial statements; to manage and maintain the project costing system and to support the project managers and senior management in managing projects to administer and maintain all accounts with the accounting team including the payroll, payables and billings systems and completion; to prepare the draft annual budgets and cash flow budgeting; to prepare the financial components of reports of any short, medium and long-term plans, projections and priorities to the CEO and management team; to administer and supervise finance staff in the preparation and maintenance of financial records and the financial administration reporting systems; to manage the companies banking relationship and reporting; to actively monitor compliance; to ensure the financial administration systems, policies, procedures, directions and internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively; to consolidate or combine company records as needed or required; to evaluate the financial administration systems of the company and recommend improvements; to develop and recommend procedures for the safeguarding of assets and to ensure approved procedures are followed; to develop and recommend procedures for identifying and mitigating financial reporting and fraud risks and to ensure approved procedures are followed; to perform any other duties of the Chief Financial Officer Accountability The Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, which include the development of a financial and operational strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve and protect the Company’s assets and report accurate financial results.

Principal accountabilities are: Planning, Operations, Financial Information, Risk Management, Monitoring and Reporting.

Professional accounting designation (CPA) (CMA) and a degree in a related discipline, the incumbent will have comprehensive knowledge of computer systems and a minimum of 5 years’ advanced experience in a progression of financial management roles.
