Financial Accountant

About the Opportunity Gain a deep understanding of how the company’s financial operations functions Support all accounting operations, including bank reconciliations, AR and AP processes, journal entries, and reconciling intercompany transactions Support business needs and ensure that processes are aligned and compliant Assist in certain special projects as part of the Company’s continuous improvement initiatives Develop monthly/quarterly reports for the management and executive teams Engage with the FD on potential issues concerning compliance requirements Ensure the close process is completed in an accurate and timely manner Process accounts payable from receipt to final approval including match invoices to PO receiving, entering invoices into Sage ACCPAC accounting software, reconciling vendor statements and process weekly cheque runs Manage corporate credit card payments, accounting and reconciliations Correspond with trade partners, suppliers and banks Track customer deposits and assist with reporting status of receivables Ownership of corporate cash reporting including; daily cash email, weekly cash report and cash flow forecasting Provincial sales tax filings Perform month-end closing activities including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis Assist with job costing and work-in-progress accounting Liaise directly with management and staff in the preparation of month-end reports and charts for inclusion in the monthly financial reporting Back-up for processing bi-weekly payroll and other HR functions Assist in the preparation of year-end schedules and analysis for all balance sheet accounts, for inclusion in the external auditor working paper file Assist with income tax filings, year-end communications with auditors, and budgeting processes Provide assistance to and supporting senior staff and other departments with ad-hoc enquiries, projects and activities on an as-needed basis About You Degree/Diploma in Accounting or Finance 3 years of related financial/accounting experience Enrolment in CPA designation program considered an asset Strong full-cycle accounting experience Strong communication skills (written and oral) Excellent MS Excel/spreadsheet skills, competency with MS Word, database management and email Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and staff at all levels within the organization Excellent problem-solving and investigative skills, and the ability to make sound recommendations Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis A proven attention to detail and an ability to work independently Experience working with SAGE ACCPAC or similar is an asset Salary $65,000
