The CYMHP Business Clerk is responsible for providing all aspects of patient reception, appointment management, data entry, administrative and clerical functions for the CYMHP Outpatient Service and Community Education Service. The Community Education Service provides information and educational opportunities to the community at large about a variety of topics including parenting, child development, and childhood illnesses and difficulties that bring children and their families to McMaster Children’s Hospital. The Outpatient Service functions as the central outpatient clinic for the Mental Health Program, and is the hub for assessment and treatment. The CYMHC Business Clerk responsibilities include but are not limited to: greeting and registering clients to the program, data entry into the hospital’s data and information systems, booking appointments, scheduling and changing appointments, performing payroll entry, completing patient correspondence and other clerical duties for physicians and allied health staff as required, responding to client inquiries, and ensuring clinical and on-call staff are aware of high risk and urgent situations.
