This is a Full-time position in Hamilton, ON posted August 9, 2019.

Employment : Permanent of Openings : 1 Classification : Mechanical Industry:Technicians/Technologist Intermediate Mechanical/Piping Designer Our client in Hamilton is hiring an Intermediate Mechanical/Piping Designer for the Water Treatment industry.

This person will be mainly tasked with reviewing specifications in RFPs and contracts to ensure products are designed in full compliance and project costs are captured.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with developing and using design libraries and processes; designing development and drafting of drawings; preparing and reviewing shop drawings and respond to contractor inquiries; performing site inspections to identify good and bad installation practices.

Responsibilities Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.

Recognizes opportunities to develop innovative technologies and contributes knowledge and ideas for successful implementation.

Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

Ability to work in multiple 3D CAD environments Prepares and revises documentation in various project phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.

Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to requests for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.

Assists with the development of job specific discipline specifications.

Assists in the evaluation and selection of mechanical systems and materials.

Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.

Participates in cost estimating activities Performs calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

Contributes to hazard identification, risk assessment and prevention through design processes.

Ability to perform on-site design services and field engineering work.

Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.

Execute mechanical engineering deliverables on multiple projects in a dynamic work environment.

Complete required mechanical calculations for equipment sizing, material selection, etc.

Qualifications Fully competent in 3D and 2D design using at least one of Autocad or Microstation software.

Solidworks 3D experience preferred.

Autocad 3D Experience in wastewater treatment plant design, P&ID’s, tanks, equipment (pumps, blowers, valves, Instrumentation) Experience with OEM equipment supplier Knowledge of fabrication and production processes Experience with and ability to interpret FEA analyses If you are interested, please submit your resume in Microsoft Word format to: [Click Here to Email Your Resumé]
