We would love to hear from you The Role: Located in Brampton and reporting to the VP, Information Technology, the Enterprise Architect (EA) performs the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to ensure all information systems at MDA are evolving appropriately.

This role will lead a small team of DevOps and Information System Architects, while also virtually leveraging subject matter experts from any needed architecture area.

This role will collaborate extensively with Business Operations department, various business constituents, other EA team members, project teams, and staff in various IT functional areas as needed to fulfill the responsibilities described above Job Responsibilities: Leading Provide leadership to the Enterprise Architecture, DevOps, and Enterprise Project Team Leads, by ensuring they work together effectively, that they have clearly defined responsibilities and expectations, and receive effective performance evaluation and feedback, along with opportunities for career and knowledge development.

Lead and direct the activities of the Enterprise Architecture Working Group.

Communicate unambiguously and listen effectively, ensuring that senior leadership / organizational messages are delivered in a timely way to team members, that issues and concerns are dealt with, and foster open communication among team members.

Steward development of career plans and help the team and its individual employees achieve success, through clarifying expectations, coaching, conducting regular performance reviews where effective and timely feedback is provided, recognizing accomplishments, and providing discipline when appropriate.

Assist in work planning and organization, and foster teamwork, accountability and prioritization within the team.

Develop employee performance by encouraging them to think critically and, where appropriate, to consider better or improved methods/procedures.

Strategy, Innovation, Planning Participate in, support and align with, the direction and strategies of the Business Operations department, Information Technology department, and the company as a whole.

Participate in the development of the IT Strategy in all areas, but specifically as it relates to Architecture requirements and other Enterprise systems.

Maintain a current knowledge level of technical innovations, trends and developments in the EA & Project domains and share that knowledge as applicable in developing strategy and monitoring/managing roadmaps and plans.

Work directly with the Business Operations Department and Business Community to coordinate roadmaps, plans, architecture and life-cycle of the specific products, applications and projects related to the business function.

Drive innovative technology solutions and the development of new capabilities, pursuant to the needs of the company and its business areas.

Develop, in conjunction with external customers, service level objectives that are realistic, measurable and meet the needs of the company.

Work with the business to ensure EA activities and plans are periodically rationalized, and actions are put in place such as increasing functionality, increasing use, replacing or retiring with a focus on costs and benefits, and meeting the needs of the business.

Collaborate with the business with a focus on achieving benefits from the investment that the company has made in the Enterprise systems and drive user proficiency in the systems to maximize the value to the business.

Managing Understand the business strategy, roadmaps, annual plan, objectives and results to be achieved, and ensure this drives all IT activity.

Be accountable for the delivery of all EA services by his/her team to the business.

Manage the quality of architected solutions by ensuring reliability and stability; that procedures and methodologies align to industry standards and best practices.

Direct the evaluation and selection (RFI/RFP) processes for software evaluations.

Oversee the delivery and development of quality business solutions, systems, and enhancements, on-time and on-budget, and to business satisfaction.

Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, IT peers, and customers with whom work is coordinated or interfaced.

Interface and liaise with the Business Operations department and Business Community to coordinate plans, architecture and life-cycle of the specific products, application, and projects related to the business function; and work collaboratively to create, maintain, and develop a roadmap and budget to keep the Enterprise Application suite current and supported by the vendor.

Oversee, plan, design, implement, and maintain software engineering processes, methods, and tools.

Periodically, perform roles beyond the scope of the Manager role which may include project manager or project sponsor for certain projects.

Manage and approve the appropriate resource levels to effectively operate the Enterprise Architecture Team and meet the needs of the business.

Adhere to management processes ensuring decisions are recorded and approved as appropriate Ensure the timely correction of any bugs with vendor supplied patches and new releases related to Enterprise applications, and ensure all vendor maintenance contracts and license agreements are in place, with the Company being in compliance with all terms and conditions of such licenses and agreements at all times.

Accountable for ensuring the Operations team is working collaboratively in achieving our goals and objectives.

Promote a common vision and goals that align with the organization directions.

Support the development and on-going sustainment of the Company’s Integrated Management System, Compliance Management, and Information Governance, and participate as a key contributor to risk management practices and procedures related to the operation of the Company’s facilities to meet corporate objectives.

Perform duties to ensure the performance bar remains high within Information Services.

Job Education/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, system analysis, or a related study, or equivalent experience Minimum of five years of design and implementation experience in IT, with a deep knowledge in a minimum of two of the following technical disciplines: network design, application development, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations Exposure to multiple, diverse business systems within the aerospace industry Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation Strong leadership skills, including leading staff located in other geographies including offshore Excellent analytical and technical skills Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills Excellent planning and organizational skills Ability to understand the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term perspectives of situations Ability to estimate the financial impact of information system alternatives Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies Knowledge of information principles and processes Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting Understanding of the political climate of the enterprise, and how to respond to political challenges Good business acumen and an understanding of aerospace industries Experience managing relationships with customers with high expectations Managing ambiguous requirements and requests Ability to inspire others and the desire to be seen as a trusted advisor and partner with other companies, business areas, and employee-partners Strong knowledge of the vendor/supplier management as they relate to information services Strong relationship building skills with business partners Ability to negotiate among differing interest and build consensus Working knowledge of change enablement techniques We’re a dream team of purpose-driven, collaborative and passionate people, and we are constantly looking for others to join TeamMDA to ignite new and innovative approaches to problem-solving that push us forward to improve life on and above Earth.
