St. Peter’s Restorative Care serves the rehabilitation needs of adults with a multiple medical and/or functionally complex condition(s) which may include stroke or orthopaedic conditions such as arthritis or fracture, or deconditioning. The patient has clearly defined goals that can realistically be attained within an average 45-60 day length of stay, and is expected to benefit from interventions provided by an interprofessional team which are directed toward discharge home by helping patients reach their maximum level of functioning, independence and comfort. Typical patient goals may include enhancing ability to manage activities of daily living (ADL), mobility, wheelchair seating, continence, communication and adaptation to an altered level of functioning.
The Occupational therapist assistant/physiotherapist assistant (OTA/PTA) functions as part of the Restorative Care interprofessional team. The OTA/PTA assumes responsibility and accountability for the specific tasks that are assigned by the Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.
This position is temporary until November 2022.
