Unit Summary

The Engineering Department at Hamilton Health Sciences is an integral part of the support services, providing facilities maintenance services to all buildings, wards and departments at General, JHCC, JCC, St. Peters, WLMH and McMaster Children’s Hospital sites. The Engineering staff is comprised of numerous and varied trades, including Stationary Engineers in the power plant, Electricians, Plumbers, Millwrights, Carpenters, Painters, etc. all contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the facilities. The department’s goals can best be summarized as SERVICE EXCELLENCE.

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Painter is responsible for the application of paint, varnish, wall coverings and other finishes. Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Functions in accordance with duties defined in the job description of a Painter. May be assigned to work at any HHS site.

This position is temporary until 2022-09-05

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday; days

Qualifications

1. Current Province of Ontario Painter and Decorator (Commercial and Residential) Trade Certificate
2. Minimum five years experience as a qualified Tradesperson
3. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions
4. Demonstrated ability to use tools and equipment of the trade
5. Must be willing to provide own hand tools of the trade
6. Demonstrated ability to bend, crawl, lift heavy items, climb and work from ladders and scaffolding
7. Demonstrated ability to work in areas that are cold, hot, dusty, dirty, noisy, amongst machinery, at elevated levels and have cramped quarters

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.
