Program Manager – Addiction and Mental Health Services

Your Opportunity: This is an exciting position that provides leadership to the addiction and mental health programs at the Peter Lougheed Centre.

Together with the your unit managers & medical dyad partners you will be responsible for leading the care teams for 3 inpatient units, urgent services, consult liaison and day hospital programs.

This patient care position will be responsible for ensuring high levels of safe care are provided to our patient population that needs our support.

This position will also be responsible for leading the short stay unit & psychiatric emergency department redesign and psychiatric ICU build.

Description: Reporting to the Director of Adult North East
– Addiction and Mental Health Calgary Zone, the Program Manager will partner with the Clinical Medical Directors to manage the delivery of service across these programs.

The Manager acts as a mentor and consultant to unit managers, program staff and promotes clinical development and education within the program setting.

This individual must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to plan and operationalize services which are patient and family centered, are aligned with organizational goals of improved access to services and to effective, quality care.

This position is responsible (both individually and collaboratively) for: Strategic planning, fiscal management, implementing, and maintaining standards of professional practice.

Hiring, supervising and evaluating professional and support staff.

Implementing changes related to processes and structures to achieve improved access, quality of care, resource allocation and sustaining/strengthening community partnerships.

The manager position plays a pivotal role in providing leadership to the multiple programs within the addiction and mental health programs at the Peter Lougheed Centre.

These teams support the treatment and recovery of individuals living in the community who suffer with moderate to severe addiction or mental illnesses.

The manager will manage a large number of multi-disciplinary staff (e.g.

RN, RPN, Allied Health Staff and Administrative staff).

The manager is required to be fluent in multiple collective agreements (UNA, HSAA, AUPE), and works closely with attending psychiatrists and clinical medical directors.

Managers need to have advanced knowledge of each discipline’s roles, responsibilities and scope of practice (as defined by the Health Professions Act and individual discipline Acts).

Classification: Manager Union: Exempt Department: (PLC) PCU 25 GENERAL PSYCH Primary Location: Peter Lougheed Centre Negotiable Location: Within Calgary Zone Employee Class: Regular Full Time FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 22-JAN-2021 Date Available: 16-FEB-2021 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 4 Shifts per cycle: 20 Shift Pattern: Days, On Call Days Off: Saturday/Sunday Minimum Salary: $40.32 Maximum Salary: $69.09 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized program with a Baccalaureate Degree in a relevant discipline.

Registration with relevant professional organization recognized by the Health Professions Act in Alberta.

Minimum 5 years progressive management experience with the health care industry, in a Mental Health setting required.

– 5 years of knowledge/skill development and experience in Mental Health is required.

Track record of innovative leadership in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment.

Fluent in multiple collective agreements and have advanced knowledge of each discipline’s roles, responsibilities and scope of practice.

Demonstrated skills and experience in strategic experience, Quality Improvement, Operations Management, Human Resources Management, and Financial Management.

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Interpersonal skills, including ability to problem solve and initiate and implement conflict resolution process.

Demonstrated experience working on initiatives with partners both internal and external to AHS.

Additional Required Qualifications: Knowledge and understanding of the Addiction and Mental Health continuum of care.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education is essential.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s level preparation is preferred.

Community adult mental health outpatient and outreach experience is preferred.

Knowledge of a variety of treatment modalities across adult populations is an asset.

Knowledge and skills in Addiction treatment and services is an asset.
