Unit Summary
The Hamilton regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated by the Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research; to bring the highest quality science into health care for the benefit of the community; and to participate in the clinical application, delivery and interpretation of that science. The Program is responsible for providing all the Laboratory Service needs of all the acute care teaching hospitals associated with the Faculty of Health Sciences McMaster University. The HRLMP/McMaster faculty is an internationally renowned group of individuals who have many years been providing a very high level of service, education, and research in Laboratory Medicine.
Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technologist will provide coverage to the STEM Cell Processing Laboratory. Activities within the STEM Cell laboratory include cryopreservation, Plasma and Red Cell Depletion of HPC, Marrow products using the Cobe 2991 Cell Processor, positive selection, purging of hematopoetic pregenitor cells, re-infusion procedures and routine quality control and inventory management of progenitor cell products and equipment. All activities are performed and regulated under the Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplant program Health Canada licensing.
