Unit Summary
The Burn Unit provides highly specialized expert care to critical and non-critical adult burns, including those requiring ventilatory support. Patients with other diagnoses such as frostbite, complex wounds and exfoliative disorders (toxic epidermal necrolysis and patients undergoing microvascular surgery or reconstructive surgery) are cared for in the Burn Unit. The Burn Unit is a 9-bed unit; 2 � 3 beds are considered critical beds able to meet all the needs of the critically injured burn patient including ventilation. In addition to the inpatient beds the Burn Unit operates an outpatient burn clinic for non critical adult and pediatric burns and a scar control clinic.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care according to the job description and standards of practice and criteria for Registered Nurses in the Burn Unit. Nursing staff will be expected to successfully complete critical care education in order to care for critically ill and ventilated patients.

days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays. This position is temporary until April 2023.
1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Current BCLS
3. 2 years Burn nursing experience (within the last 2 years)
4. 2 years Recent (within the last 2 years) experience and demonstrated skill and ability in critical care nursing
5. Demonstrated knowledge of the Nursing Care Planning process
6. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and team work skills
7. Demonstrated ability to utilize problem-solving and critical thinking techniques
8. ACLS preferred
As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.
