Unit Summary Ward E2 is an Inpatient Orthopedic Surgical unit within the Surgical Oncology Orthopedic program. The patient population primarily consists of lower extremity Total Joint Replacement. The team cares for over 1600 patients annually.

Position Summary

Using a client-centered approach, the Registered Nurse provides leadership in the coordination and evaluation of nursing care of patients with musculoskeletal conditions, digestive diseases, and general surgical patients; collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and community agencies to coordinate care and education of patients and their families; establishes and implements education plans with and for patients and families; acts as an accessible and knowledgeable resource for patients and their families.

Schedule Work Hours days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays

Qualifications

1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
2. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation course in CPR or equivalent
3. Minimum (1 year) experience in an orthopedic setting within the last 3 years
4. Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, decision-making, communication, organizational, problem identification and problem-solving skills
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team
6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and shifting demands
7. Venipuncture an asset

As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.
