Registered Nurse

This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted July 26, 2022.

The RN, as a member of the Vascular Access Resource Team, provides direct patient vascular access therapy care. Specific responsibilities include providing consultation and assistance to staff in the delivery of vascular access therapy, and Device selection to meet complex patient vascular access therapy needs. Provides advanced vascular access therapy eg. Midline and PICC insertion. The RN may be asked to represent Vascular Access Resource Team on hospital and regional committees related to clinical, research, education, or QI activities. The RN will be required to collaborate with staff at all sites in the development of a consistent corporate approach to vascular access therapy, decision making, and to provide leadership in certain team activities.

1. Current Certification of Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
2. Recent (2 years ) clinical expertise and recent experience in vascular access therapy in both adult and pediatric populations
3. Current (2 years) of Central Vascular Access Device care, management, skills and knowledge
4. CINA Certified
5. Advanced Central Line care and management knowledge and skills
6. Accessing Ports, lysing lines, PICC insertion
7. Experience in the care and maintenance of Midline and PICC catheters
8. Demonstrated understanding of asepsis and anatomy and physiology as it relates to Vascular Access Therapy
9. Demonstrated knowledge in Vascular Access Device selection to meet patient’s vascular access therapy needs
10. Demonstrated ability to initiate the development of specific learning experience for staff related to Vascular Access
11. Demonstrated ability to effectively assess and meet patient’s learning needs
12. Demonstrated responsibility for personal/professional development
