Registered Nurse, Operating Room

Grand River Hospital

This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted September 24, 2022.

Union: ONA Nursing

Location: KW Campus 

Work Type: Unscheduled Part Time 

Shift: 7.5 hour shifts Days/Evenings/Weekends/On-Call


To incorporate the knowledge and skills necessary to function within the job description of Registered Nurse – Operating Room. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment to patients, staff and visitors.



  • Current registration and in good standings with the College of Nurses of Ontario 
  • 2 years’ of Operating Room experience preferred 
  • Perioperative Certification preferred 
  • Accredited Operating Room Course required 
  • Familiar with Operating Room Workload Measurement 
  • Familiar with standards, policies, procedures and physician protocols for the Operating Room 
  • Familiar with care of the perioperative patients of all ages 
  • CPR certification required 
  • Can meet physical demands of standing, lifting and being on call 
  • Ability to deal with physiologically/psychosocially stressed patients in an active, high turnover area
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills required to interact with patients, health professionals, other service providers and families essential 
  • Good attendance record required
