Unit Summary

Ward E2 is an Inpatient Orthopedic Surgical unit within the Surgical Oncology Orthopedic program. The patient population consists of persons undergoing fractured hip repair or lower extremity total joint replacement. The team cares for over 1600 patients annually.

Position Summary

Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse, gives nursing care and performs assigned duties.

Schedule Work Hours

days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays

This position is temporary until July 2023.

Qualifications

1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nursing of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
2. Recent (within 2 years) experience in an acute surgical setting
3. Current CPR Course at Basic Rescuer
4. Demonstrated experience in working with an interdisciplinary team
5. Demonstrated knowledge of Musculoskeletal Safe Patient Handling
6. Demonstrated understanding of Orthopedic/Surgical nursing
7. Demonstrated excellent communication skills both written and verbal
