Contract End Date: October 1, 2023

Shift: Days – Mondays to Fridays, 0800-1600

Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Preventative Health Services, the Registered Practical Nurse will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team focused on the implementation and administration of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures. This role will be responsible for assisting with various occupational health duties including; conducting volunteer and employee pre-placement health reviews and immunizations. This role may include providing first aid, assisting staff/volunteers with scheduled and unscheduled health office appointments, and responding to telephone and email inquiries. This role is also intended to assist with the management of the workload resulting from questions and changing processes related to the pandemic. Providing guidance on safe return to work/volunteer shifts may be required. The incumbent will need to collaborate with department managers and directors within both Grand River Hospital and the GRH Foundation. Providing small group education and presentations may be required in response to changing protocols and other health topics. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently at times, prioritize workload, as well as manage in a busy clinic environment. The incumbent may be required to travel to both KW and Freeport to support GRH Foundation Volunteers and GRH team members. 

 

Qualifications

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • RPN diploma
  • Experience with Covid vaccination clinics, other immunization clinics an asset
  • Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills
  • Excellent time management skills in a busy work environment
  • Ability to interpret and comply with relevant legislation (Public Hospital Health Act, OH&S Act, WSIB Act, Human Rights)
  • Knowledge of OHA Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols and proficiency in immunizations
  • Current CPR 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Develop rapport easily with others – Prioritizes exceptional service despite busy daily schedule
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, Visio, etc. Experience with Parklane systems considered an asset
