Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation is a portfolio within McMaster Children’s Hospital. It is comprised of many different programs providing out- patient services to children (and some adults) with developmental, emotional or behaviourial, physical, or communication needs.
The Speech Language Pathologist serves school-aged and preschool children with developmental and/or neurological disabilities with a range of communication and speech and language delays and disorders. The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing multi-disciplinary assessment, parent-mediated and individual and group child interventions and community consultation. Mentoring is available in all areas of practice. Therapy sessions may be conducted on-site or in the community.
Monday to Friday; days (some evening and occasional weekend work may be required)
1. CASLPO registration
2. Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology
3. Hanen certification in parent training programs considered an asset
4. Minimum 2- 3 years pediatric experience working with preschoolers with special needs preferred
5. Comprehensive knowledge of communication development, preschool communication disorders and neurological and/ or developmental disabilities
6. Experience in augmentative communication preferred
7. Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability to initiate and work independently
8. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
9. Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle for travel in the community
10. Willingness to participate in criminal reference check
11. Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
12. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
