Reliability Engineer – Chemical Manufacturing


This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted August 9, 2019.

David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies has partnered with our client, one of the leading manufacturers of specialty chemicals in Hamilton, Ontario.

They are currently looking to add a Reliability Engineer for their project management team.

The Role: Develop a clear understanding of the continuous flow process and the components to identify known and potential reliability failure modes Execute reliability studies of failure modes.

This includes understanding appropriate accelerated ageing testing conditions, specifying and acquiring required test equipment where necessary and organizing the collection of appropriate samples Coordinate and implement the reliability test plan Lead preventative maintenance and develop and implement a 3-year plan aligned with the company’s lean six-sigma journey Conduct analysis of major failures and implement actions to avoid a recurrence.

Measure MTBF (mean time between failure) MTTR (mean time to repair) and develop a plan to increase the MTBF and reduce MTTR Identify, design and coordinate the installation of upgrades to process equipment to increase uptime and reliability Develop improvement activities/initiatives aimed at correcting weaknesses and prolonging working life of the equipment through corrective maintenance.

Proactively collaborate with regional PM Team to share and learn current best practices, tools and techniques.

Identify training needs for maintenance team through skills matrix and support training programs Develop/manage plant maintenance budget and ensure compliance with company and regulatory policies & procedures Ensure an effective preventative maintenance program is in place, reducing equipment downtime and increasing operating equipment efficiency (OEE) Champion OEE improvement initiatives, as well as selection, implementation and monitoring of equipment reliability improvement plans Initiate and execute projects and programs to deliver business strategies and protect physical assets The Ideal Candidate: Minimum three (3) years’ experience in direct supervision of Engineering/Maintenance/Production staff in a manufacturing environment Strong scientific and analytical skills Extensive knowledge of failure mode analysis and design for reliability for a Continuous Chemical Process Flow University Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred Minimum three (3) years’ experience developing Continuous Improvements in production Familiarity and understanding of machinery, electrical/automation controls and MRO Demonstrated hands-on leadership and coaching abilities Proficient computer aptitude for Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP software systems Results driven, motivated by technical challenges and has excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills If you are interested in this position and meet the above criteria, please click the Apply button to send your resume in confidence directly to Gezamin Manuel, Recruiter, Aplin Engineering & Technical.
