Field Installer/Cable Technician – Ontario – GTA


This is a Part-time position in Hamilton, ON posted June 8, 2021.

Overview: As a Low Voltage Technician, you will be working under the guidance of a Lead.

Your main responsibilities will be providing skilled maintenance, installations, additions, and/or repair and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems, associated materials and equipment on any type project.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following: Lay out work and preps materials for installation.

Perform overhead and underground layout and rough-in.

Terminate all types of copper cable including coaxial, multi-pair and Category 3 through 6.

Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools.

Assemble and install relay racks, network cabinets, wall fields and associated components.

Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types.

Perform structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.

Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment.

Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and resolve problems in structured cabling systems.

Operate any power and hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.

Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.

Meet attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.

Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience of on the job communications work experience as well as demonstrated skills at the Technician level.

Must have a current Driver’s License.

High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, reach, stand, kneel and climb ladders 8-10 hours per day.
