Millwright – Hamilton Maritime Terminal

This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted May 25, 2023.

MILLWRIGHT

The millwright will be responsible for the maintenance, assembly and movement of our mobile conveyors, and rolling equipment. You will also be called to support operations by operating heavy machinery. The millwright will support all our outside technical service providers

Main responsibilities:

  • Set up and disassemble the conveyors for ship loading and unloading purposes
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems.
  • Repair and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns. Repair/rebuild/replace parts where required.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) of various types of heavy equipment.
  • Conduct general facility maintenance tasks.
  • Any other tasks requested by your supervisor

Schedule:

The schedule is variable including, at times, weekends and requires you to be on call. You might be called to work, day or night depending on the ship loading and unloading schedule. Overtime depending on the workload is available.

What you need to succeed:

  • Vocational studies in industrial mechanic, electromechanics or any other relevant education.
  • Completion of an accredited Millwright certificate program.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in industrial mechanics.
  • Welding knowledge considered an advantage.
  • Approaches maintenance/repairs with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills working within a team-based environment.
  • Strong ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required in our industry.
  • Experience using heavy equipment (fork-lift and loaders).
