Operations assistant – Hamilton Maritime Terminal

OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

PASSION – CLIENT ORIENTATION – OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE – TAILOR-MADE SUCESS

Reporting to the Terminal supervisor, the Operations assistant supports the operations in their daily activities. He is involved both in administrative tasks and in operational activities on the terminal, ensuring that operations run smoothly. The position is based in Hamilton but requires working in our different terminals in Ontario when needed.

DAILY YOU WILL:

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all domestic cargo using computer software and physical counting;
  • Document all domestic cargo from trucks and railcars;
  • Produce various operational reports;
  • Create invoices and ensure they are processed;
  • Ensure data control of our key indicator such as wind, rain, stockpile maintenance, etc.;
  • Maintain a cleaning schedule of equipment and facilities;
  • Conduct HSSE compliance audits on a daily basis;
  • Complete moisture sampling of salt;
  • Operate various equipment such as forklift, water truck, track mobile, truck and trailer, power washer, etc.;
  • Assist the staff in preparation for vessel activity, including transfer from site to site;
  • Liaison with clients through email, text, phone call and face to face.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Logistic diploma or another degree in a relevant field;
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Ease with computer and to use software;
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and Word, as well as other elements of the MS Office suite.;
  • Experience on forklift or other machinery (asset);
  • Availability to travel to our different sites.
