This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted June 4, 2021.

Employers’ Adviser Management Band 2 Amendment (May 14): Closing date extended to Monday June 7, 2021.

This position may be located in Richmond or Langley.

Although this position has onsite office-based requirements, it can temporarily be performed virtually due to the current extraordinary circumstances related to COVID-19.

This will remain in place until physical distancing advisories are lifted.

This position is excluded from union membership.

NOTE: Over time through performance based in-range movement employees will have the opportunity to reach the maximum of their position’s salary band.

The starting salary for this position is expected to be approximately $85,000 annually, with the starting salary to be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Combine your client service, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning skills in this challenging role The Employers’ Advisers Office is established by section 352 of the Workers Compensation Act (the “Act”) to provide expert advice, assistance, representation and educational services to over 200,000 registered Employers, Independent Operators, Sole Proprietors, Partnerships and Employer Associations province-wide with respect to all aspects of claims, assessments and occupational health and safety (OH&S) matters.

Advisers ensure the interests of employers and the employer community are considered in the compensation system.

Advisers will appear before WorkSafeBC’s Review Division and the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal (“WCAT”) on matters related to compensation claims, assessments and OH&S matters.

Educational services are offered via seminars, webinars and speaking engagements.

Job Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
• University degree in a related discipline (i.e.

law, psychology, human resources, occupational health & safety, etc.) plus two (2) years related experience; OR Diploma plus four (4) related years’ experience, training and/or certification (i.e.

CRSP, CPHR); OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Experience providing advice and assistance concerning various types of legislation, regulations, policies or procedures.

• Experience researching and preparing cases for decision/submission to or appearing before tribunals/boards/commissions/appellate bodies/mediations.

• Preference may be given to candidates with experience in disability/injury management, claims adjudication, assessments (insurance), prevention (OH&S), and/or medical and legal review.

• Preference may be given to candidates with previous experience in workers’ compensation and workplace occupational health and safety matters.

• Preference may be given to candidates with experience preparing and presenting presentation materials for educational and informational purposes.

• Preference may be given to candidates fluent in a second language such as Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, French, Spanish or other.
