Business Systems Analyst


This is a Contract position in Hamilton, ON posted November 17, 2022.

The opportunity Reporting to the Director, Services and Integration, our client is looking for a technically savvy BSA ready to take on the responsibilities of a Senior Business Systems Analyst at a company launching operations in Canada.

You will take ownership for eliciting, translating, documenting, and distributing all internal systems needs and requirements.

You will be the first person in the role, with the autonomy to create processes and document flow for the incoming Development team to successfully design, implement and integrate systems and solutions.

You will work across every department
– eCommerce, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations, as well as third-party providers and make a powerful impact to ensure the smooth operation of Canadian headquarters, distribution centers, and stores.

What you will do Elicit business requirements.

You will liaise with multiple business units, technology, and support teams to identify requirements, best practices, interdependencies, and improvement opportunities.

You will facilitate workshops and other end-user interaction to elicit needs, collect and analyze data, and create use cases for new products, programs and processes.

You will work closely with Developers and potentially be directly involved in quality assurance to ensure the technical work is aligned to meet the needs of the business.

Translate needs.

You will create User Stories and other artifacts in Confluence (process flow, data model, use cases, etc.) to clarify the requirements.

You will work closely with the development team to define functional specifications and the modifications required to achieve objectives (including non-functional requirements), adhering to the solution architecture and technical roadmap.

Drive continuous improvement.

You will investigate issues thoroughly and create practical solutions that solve problems and open up new opportunities.

You will identify ways to improve processes and efficiency.

What you bring: Experience.

You are a BA or BSA who can work closely with technical, operational, and professional services teams to bring together business and technical requirements.

You have an exceptional ability to listen, understand, and document needs, processes, workflows and deliverables using software such as Confluence.

You are comfortable in an autonomous liaison role; effectively communicating cross-functionally, ensuring deliverables are met on time.

Ideally, you have worked for a retail or eCommerce company.


You have strong business acumen, strategic planning abilities.

You exceptional attention to detail and accuracy and hold yourself to high standards of accountability and ownership.
