Safety Training and ERT Coordinator

We are proud to be a Company recognised by industry awards for operational excellence and performance, sustainability, gender diversity and pay equity.We seek an experienced [professional / tradesperson] to fill the role of Safety Training and ERT Coordinator.This fixed term and full time position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.

The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.Our Safety Training and ERT Coordinator will join a dedicated Health and Safety team.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, your role will ensure that all new employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and visitors receive the required and needed safety training upon their induction / orientation to the company.

They will also develop, implement, and maintain required training for the site Emergency Response Team (ERT)The Opportunity Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.Coaching and mentoring the team with professionalism and maturity.Identifying safety issues and champion a safe work culture with safety being top priority.Ensuring that all new employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and visitors receive the required and needed safety training upon their induction / orientation to the company.Developing, implementing, and maintaining required training for the site Emergency Response Team (ERT).Under direction of Manager HS, maintenance and upkeep of the overall site Emergency Response plan.

Including the monthly inspections of life saving equipment, AED”s, fire extinguishers, emergency showers / eye wash stations etc.Oversee ERT call outs and assist as requested / neededAssist with ERT site coverage as needed.Maintenance of ERT equipment in order to keep ERT on a capable level for the site risks.Maintenance and upkeep of the first aid rooms supplies required for the ERT to perform their duties.Developing, maintaining & introducing safety awareness short courses and any associated safety training as requested / authorised by Manager.Developing and communicating safety training requirements, plans and matrices with Health and safety Manager to ensure that personnel have the necessary skills to safely undertake assigned duties and responsibilities.Developing, maintaining and when necessary upgrade training processes and equipment, package training modules, materials and procedures.

Maintaining personnel health and safety training records including but not limited to training-matrix status, training competency assessments and training schedules.Developing and communicating training requirements, competency assessments and training matrices with functional group heads to ensure that personnel have the necessary skills to undertake assigned duties and responsibilities efficiently and effectively.Ensuring that training programs & materials are current and compliant with industry standards, St.
