Assistant Vice President (Hedge Funds)

This is a Full-time position in Hamilton, ON posted August 5, 2022.

You will be responsible for overseeing the tax filings for a portfolio of corporate, trust and partnership clients Coordination of the annual reporting process, ensuring the timely preparation, accuracy and completeness of calculations and tax filings for corporations, partnerships and trusts Reviewing returns and schedules as prepared by the tax team Coordinating final submission of returns with clients, KPMG and submitting returns to CRA for processing You will be responsible for reviewing & overseeing: preparation / review of distribution calculations for trusts, LPs including section 94.1 rule analysis preparation and distribution of appropriate tax returns and relevant tax slips; filings to the CRA annual GST SLFI filings for investment limited partnerships and trusts Coordinating with other Fund Accounting Teams to ensure appropriate reporting of taxes and tax-related disclosures in financial statements Coordinate and assist clients with all income tax audits as conducted by various tax authorities, client enquiries on tax slips Ensure all applicable withholding taxes are correctly calculated and timely withheld including the filing of the relevant compliance reporting You will be responsible for the oversight of outsourced office and their assigned relationships, ensuring timely and accurate NAV calculation along with any other client specific reporting requirements.

Liaising with Investment Managers, Broker’s, Custodians and Investors on a daily basis Ensuring client enquiries are answered in accordance with Apex service standards on an ongoing basis Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and other requirements of the funds’ specifications Ensure accurate delegation of work across your team Ensure effective communication with colleagues and corresponding departments “Working here I have the space to be creative, take ownership and develop continuously.
