Our client provides support for more than 1,600 people with special needs every year – from children to aging seniors. The client offers community participation programs, residential services, respite services, employment supports, and services designed for children. What you’ll be doing As a Manager, Risk and Quality you will be working with the management team. You will be focusing on quality, safety and risk management at all service delivery levels across the organization. This role will report to the Director of Operation and will work with a cross functional team of professionals to   plan, design, and implement the overall risk management framework and process for the organization.  Practically speaking you will: * Monitor the effectiveness of the risk management processes and implement needed change* Guide and support the Manager of Properties in ensuring all activities involving physical assets are compliant and align with organizational strategy and risk objectives* Be responsible for developing a compliance framework that ensures the organization meets health and safety and other legislative requirements, as well as contractual compliance, and liaise with business partners in these areas to ensure the framework remains current and in congruence with the client policies and objectives* Develop a Quality Assurance Program and provides oversight and guidance on best practices, tools, and metrics to promote standardization, compliance, collaboration  and efficiency across the organization* Manage the organizational Quality Assurance Program and act as subject matter expert on all matters relating to quality assurance* Provide strategic business, financial and policy advice, day-to-day operational support, and professional judgment on complex and contentious issues for senior management* Analyze trends in general business conditions and identify opportunities for improvements* Deal with confidential and sensitive information affecting operations, assets and resources* Establish an effective and collaborative working relationship with the division’s senior management team and management staff, organizational clients and stakeholders* Lead organizational process reviews, policy and procedure development, system reviews and changes, and analyzethe impacts of these changes on service delivery and operations* Contribute to the development and implementation of internal quality and performance monitoring tools (audits and surveys), as well as internal event reporting tools (safety risks, incidents, adverse events impacting clients and workers)* Establish and monitor continuous readiness for compliance with funders (MCCSS, MOH, etc) and other legislative and regulatory agency requirements* Monitor an intervention of events that have potential for organizational liability* Provide assistance, consultation, and guidance to all departments in their preparations for compliance by:** Coordinating and supporting management teams with the electronic submission of their respective compliance surveys** Providing assistance in the interpretation of the established compliance standards and Required Organizational Practices.** Reviewing all previous recommendations made by MCCSS and distributing the recommendations to the various management teams for follow-up action/resolution* Comply with all internal and external Risk Management and Occupational Health & Safety programs, policies, and processes to eliminate or minimize unsafe acts or conditions, including identification & reporting of near miss and actual events The Details This is a full-time permanent position based in Hamilton, Ontario. An addition to a competitive annual salary, you’ll enjoy comprehensive benefits, vacation, RRSP program and opportunities for professional development. Qualifications* Post-secondary education in a related discipline (Business Management or other related courses) or combination of relevant experience and education* Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation an asset* Lean Six Sigma Certification an asset* Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and experience leading successful quality improvement initiatives* Experience or familiarity with Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services Required Organizational Practices for Client Safety* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of staff at all levels while dealing with complex and controversial issues* Adaptability with high tolerance for ambiguous work situations, including the ability to negotiate, resolve conflict and mediate* Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, communication (written and verbal), critical thinking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills* Working knowledge of current legislation in the developmental services (Employment Law, OHSA, PHIPA, Excellent Care for All Act, Bill 168, AODA, PIPEDA, etc.)* Process-oriented, and able to adhere to policy or refer exceptions to senior management* Previous experience in a unionized setting preferred Your ApplicationWe value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
